Lin Xi, a gifted architect, is framed by his colleagues and sent to prison, where he meets Lei Xiao, a former special forces soldier who was betrayed by his biological father and stepmother and lost both his mother and younger brother. Meanwhile, A Jie, Lei Xiao’s sworn brother who has stood by him through life-and-death situations for twenty years, has secretly been in love with him for years. Consumed by jealousy after seeing Lei Xiao fall in love with Lin Xi, A Jie is manipulated by the stepmother, Zhao Meifeng, into framing Lin Xi. He drugs Lei Xiao in an attempt to possess him, only to hear Lei Xiao call out Lin Xi’s name in his sleep. A Jie then joins forces with Zhao Meifeng and helps record a video of Lin Xi after he is drugged. After Zhao Meifeng is convicted and imprisoned, she hires assassins to kill Lei Xiao. During the ensuing gunfight, Lei Xiao takes a bullet to protect Lin Xi. Witnessing this, A Jie finally understands how deeply Lei Xiao loves him. He rushes forward and shields Lei Xiao from a fatal shot, sacrificing himself in the process. Before dying, A Jie reveals that Zhao Meifeng never succeeded in her plan, redeeming himself with his final act. In the end, Lei Xiao and Lin Xi succeed in seeking justice for Lei Xiao’s mother and embrace on the balcony of their newly built home. A Jie’s sacrifice leaves them with one final lesson: true love is not about possession, but about letting go and protecting the one you love.
